Northern lights over Manitoulin Island August 11, 2024. I caught my neighbours outside their cottage getting ready for bed. I invited them to photograph the northern lights with my camera. They had no idea where to look. First, I told them, stop looking south. Second, turn off this damned string of glaring lights so we can have a dark sky. Then they looked north--and saw nothing. I told the wife to click the shutter release button on my camera, already set up on the tripod. After a 15-second exposure, THIS is what the camera showed us. My neighbours were flabbergasted!
