Male Northern Flicker

Description

This Is a male Yellow Shafted Flicker...a member of the woodpecker family. I recently returned to a tree that I had observed Eastern Bluebirds nesting in last season. This year there's a family of Northern Flickers using the cavity. I observed from a distance, the edge of the ditch , the tree is on private property. I managed a few frames of the chicks being fed and a few images of the male near the nest! Beautiful isnt he!
