What a beautiful image of the swan family and the marsh. Nice texture in the water and reflections along the top of the image. They look very content. I hope the other adult was just around the corner and is safe and sound. Nicely captured Heather.

Thank you so much for your comment Debra. I've been back a couple of times since then and am happy to report that the other adult swan was back with the family and that the mound they built has now almost doubled in size.

Thank you so much, Yves. I agree, it's always great to learn something new about nature and be able to photograph it too. I'll be checking on them soon to see how they're coming along. This is the first family of cygnets I've seen on this marsh.

I love those shots where I learn someting new about the day to day living in nature. Nice to know they are doing piles. Nice to see that the colour of the cignets still allow them to blend in the overall marsh colours. Thanks for the appreciated documentary shot Heather.

Description
This family of trumpeter swans has five cygnets and I caught them busy pulling plants out of the water and tossing them towards the pile they've already created and have been using. They were still using the nest site in the cattails until recently but I noticed one adult was missing and am concerned that something might have happened to it.
