Description
I was hiking a trail today I've never been on before, just near the entrance to the trail was a small meadow and I was hearing this calling as I approached, a favorite kind of "blue bird" , this one a spectacular looking male Indigo Bunting. This one's a long distance migrant that winters within a range extending from southern Florida into northern South America. I always find it amazing that they migrate this far north! I've seen a few this year in Eastern Ontario, but by far this was the most exciting opportunity to see and photograph one. Handsome isn't he! Lanark County, north of Kingston, Canon 5D4 and 600 F.4.5ii and 1.4iii Canon Tele extender , tripod mounted.
