Description
Another from the kayak , a fat juicy Northern Water Snake...far from being a favorite creature of mine, I totally understand that it plays a role in the big scheme of things. Im not comfortable around snakes but when I saw this one along the shore of the Tay River outside of Perth, Ontario, I couldn't resist the opportunity to photograph it. I think its really quite large, and healthy looking. I nudged my kayak fairly close to it and managed a few frames before I left it to do its thing. The way I understand it, these snakes have a more reddish colour to them , and as they mature their pigment changes slightly and they get much darker in tone.
