A very nice shot of this swan on her nest. Great environment shown in the seen as well.
Thank you Clifford. I came so close to missing this one but saw the white spot just in the nick of time. This year I got lucky, last year the white spot I saw was just a piece of plastic that had blown into the cattails. I did eventually locate them though and got photos of the three cygnets on the nest which I haven't uploaded.
Glad your favorite swans are back. Your swan is beautyful and looks very comfortable on the nest. Appreciate that you frame the scene wider. I Like the compo you've done with the foreground and the color of the forest in the background. Very nice.
Thank you Yves.. she looked pretty well settled in and it will be a while before the eggs hatch, from 35 to 41 days I believe. I was very pleased to get this shot even though it was quite a distance away and I could easily have missed it.
That is quite the nest she is sitting on. I really like the view of the marshy area she is nesting in. The grasses and bull rushes are so tall it is easy to see how she could easily hide. Very nicely captured Heather she stands out well against the grasses. I don’t think the smoke hindered your shot at all. Stay safe amongst all those wild fires.
Thanks Debra.. they're great nest builders aren't they and they'll utilize every bit of the nest as the cygnets grow. I was fortunate to spot her as she was well hidden and far enough out in the water to be pretty safe from predators too.
