The photo was taken this past spring at Lake Oyama in Lake Country BC. In was taken in early July on one of my kayaking trips. I took my Canon 5D Mark III with me and was able to take this shot from a very low vantage point. I used my 400mm lens so I was able to keep a fare distance away so as to not disturb the loon in her natural habitat.
