Very nice shot Heather, brilliant colour with some stars twinkling through as well. I can relate to the dog needing out through the night. The northern lights were making an appearance here in Manitoba as well, but I missed them.

Thank you Debra, always very appreciated. Yes, every so often the puppers pull a woolly on a person don't they, this time it paid of pretty nicely for me, lol. Too bad you missed them and from what I've heard the further south you went the better they were. They were very active and bright at times that night but faded out quickly, paused and changed quite dramatically. It was fascinating to watch and very uplifting too.

What an awesome shot of them. Timing is everything..lucky you to have the opportunity to capture these amazing lights

Thank you Clifford, always much appreciated. I got a few that were a little brighter with more colours but I especially like the formation in this shot, plus green and purple are considered to be the rarest colours in the northern lights. It was a very dark night and hard to focus on but well worth the effort.. they really are mesmerizing.

Description
Sometimes it pays to wake up and find your dog wants out for a bathroom break in the middle of the night. I wasn't aware of the Aurora Watch last night so what I saw was not only a delightful surprise but also one of the better light shows I've seen.
