I like the play of light on the ripples here Yves and how it adds a nice touch of texture to the image. You caught him in a great pose in a very good close-up shot..

Thank you for the appreciated comments Heather. I love to accompany the subject with water. When there is no wind water back the subject with various colours of the surrounding. Sometime it's possible to choose the angle of shooting to get the best background for the subject. When it's windy it's another ball game. The look can be very different depending of the kind of wind combine with the angle of the sunlight.

I agree with Debra. I love the ripples in the water, giving a sense of movement.

Thanks Jane. He caught the crayfish a bit farther on the right and he was walking to the shore. I waited for him to pass by the rock for the shot.

Great focus on the eye a Yves. The gull is posing so proudly with his catch. I really like the composition. A couple of rocks providing a podium for the gull and nice movement in the water.

Yves Langlois

Great thanks for the nice comments Debra. As I remember he didn't use the rock, he rather walked to eat it on the shore.

Description
At the Drummond dam on the Magog river the shallow water offers lots of crayfishes to the numerous gulls spending the summer there. They go on a flat rock or on shore to eat it. They do pretty much like us. They first cut off the claws then crack it open. Since they eat a lot of those, it's usual to find spots full of claws and empty shells along the shore.
