Description
Meet the Golden-Mantled Ground Squirrel, a common sight when visiting Banff (or in this case, on the highway from Jasper to Banff!) These pint-sized cuties are often mistaken for chipmunks, but there are some key differences: the golden-mantled ground squirrel is larger than a chipmunk, and the stripes don't go all the way up its face. They also have a rusty, golden 'mantle' on their shoulders which chipmunks lack, and cheek pouches.
