Great compo Debra. Perfectly framed with the branch at an angle. Various textures and colors of the surrounding leaves make a nice effect here, not to forget the patch of sky that bring a touch of lighting. Very well done with a super description.

Description
The past couple of days I believe a family of Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers has stopped to fuel up on their migration journey south. They have been enjoying the nectar from this young oak tree. This would be a juvenile as they have a brownish wash over their bodies and a finely spotted crown. The adult males have a red head and throat and the adult females have a white throat. If you look closely at the picture you can see the red feathers starting to appear which tells me that this is more than likely a juvenile male.
