Your shot tels me about the art of photography. Taking a very common moment with a very common subject and raise it to one of a kind picture, making the subject a star. Nice and warm fall colors. Perfect focus to detailed this cute guy and the cone. The piece of cone floating in the air pop in action. Also appreciate your nice writing.

Thank you for your kind comments Yves. He was a pleasure to photograph and gave me lots of time. I actually sat on the ground to get this shot. I agree my favourite part is the scale flying off the cone as 5he little guy chews on. Somehow words come easier when you have had a good interaction with the subject.

What a happy looking camper he is too. Very nicely captured Debra. They're pretty busy around here gathering up the cones for winter and are always fun to watch.

Debra Plett

Thanks Heather, he was sure fun to watch. The only time he would get aggressive was when another squirrel got too close.

Endearing capture.! Wonderful shot, winter coats and fall colours.

He stopped chewing a few time to check me out but was basically fearless. He does appear to be pretty fluffy. Thanks for feedback Scott.

Jane LeBlanc

I agree, Debra. Cute, but potentially destructive given the right circumstance.

Debra Plett

Thank you Jane. This time of year they are trying to get in a couple of the sheds on the property.

Description
but not to be underestimated. With the cooler temperatures and falling leaves, this little red squirrel kept us smiling as he dropped cones from a red pine tree. Once he had dropped four or five cones he would scurry down the tree to gather, protect and store his cones from the neighbouring squirrels. Some cones he would strip the scales from to get at the pine/seeds/nuts to enjoy right away.
