Wow! What a perfect shot Debra. You caught him in very sharp and fine details. And the perfect lighting shows well all the various color tones of the feathers. The bright white of the head focus my eye to the action. May be is just droping a part he don't want to eat (the internal organs). Glad the story will go on.

Thank you Yves, appreciate your feedback. I think he was in a rush as the female was getting a little impatient with him. The Osprey actually eat all parts of the fish even the bones. I was quite surprised when I was reading up on the Osprey.

You couldn't have timed this one any better Debra. I don't suppose he was any too happy about the miss but it made for a great shot. Beautiful composition, tones and detail too..

Thanks Heather, when I check in on the nest and find him eating over on the pole. I focus in on him as he eats for a bit as he will eventually take the partially eaten fish over to the nest. I have seen him drop a whole fish in the nest as well without eating first.

awesome timing Debra, these guys are so much fun to watch and photograph. well done

Thanks Clifford, I agree. This male doesn’t let too much spook him I was surprised how he dropped the food. I think maybe he was rushing as the female was chirping at him.

Description
The male Osprey was either in a rush to eat or just simple careless.
