Very nicely captured Debra. This guy looks so healthy and you have been able to capture hm with such clarity and detail. Outstanding. I will have to make a concerted effort to visit this park hopefully soon.

Thank you Clifford for your feedback. I haven’t been to the park for a few years myself. I was totally surprised by the number of bears. I am going back towards the end of the moose and elk rut to hopefully get some shots of the moose and elk in their prime.

Wow! Colors are awesome on that shot Debra. The big black bear realy make it well in front of the white birch trees. Great focus. I do like the attitude on the bear's face (vewed with the zoom option). I know you are used to them in the west side of the Canada. We have some too but they are my worst fear.

Thank you very much Yves, your feedback is always welcome. This shot jumped out at me for exactly what you have said. I too am very sceptical and aware of my surroundings. In most cases the image was taken from inside the car with the window down or from outside the car with the door between me and the bear, with lots of time to get back into the car.

What an awesome image and you caught him in such a great pose. Beautiful composition, focus and detail Debra on a superb capture. The setting complements him perfectly too :)

Thanks Heather, this shot is one of my favourites for exactly what you have said. Sometimes I see it when i am taking the shot and sometimes it really makes the impact when you see it on the computer.

Description
I visited Riding Mountain National Park for a couple of days hoping to take a few pictures of elk and moose which sadly I didn't come across one. However, the black bear made quite the appearance. They were grazing on grass and dandelions along some of the roads that pass through the park. There was no shortage of black bears I am guessing they will disappear into the forest once the leaves and berries are more plentiful.
