Old growth forest in Ontario

Eastern white cedars growing along the Niagara Escarpment are older than they look. Due to difficult growing conditions, these cedars are often 400 to 1,000 years old. They grow slowly due to harsh conditions and are often seemingly grow out of the smallest cracks in the rock.
