this shot is so very spectacular on so many fronts it is simply amazing. The leading lines, the colours, the sky, the highlighted yellow boat to name just a few. Well done
I agree with everyone. I like the lead in line of the ramp leading up to bring your eye into the shot.
Great comment Jane! This I believe is a good photo to critique. My own critique would be this. Although it's a pleasant photo to look at it actually has many lead in lines. The more I look at the photo my eye sometimes goes straight to the sunset and then travels back through the photo. Other times my eye goes to the yellow boat and the through the other boats to the sunset and then back to the foreground. There are times when my eye catches the ramp that you speak of and carries on through the photo. Another lead in should be the strong yellow colour in the foreground to the yellow boat to the sunset but the black area in front of the foreground yellow seems to cause the eye to shift left and follow the walkway to the horizon then across the sunset and back through the photo. The railing is predominant on the walkway and seems to separate that part of the photo from the rest. Plenty to look at and as I believe still an interesting photo but kind of mixed up as a composition. My thoughts only!
The clouds opened up nicely for this shot, Yves. The sunset colour matched the boat and the buoy on this night just right.
I like the mood in this image Harold. A busy harbour has retired for the evening as the sun goes down. The lighting nicely shows off the docks and boats and the colours from the setting sun shimmer in the water. Looks like a beautiful place to be.
It is a very nice place, Debra, where very friendly people like to walk along the waterfront watching the boats come and go, busy but not so much that it is uncomfortable.
Beautyful shot at the harbour Harold. The split sky blue (left) and yellow (right) is just perfect. And the yellow repeats in the center of the image, then with the boey on the left bottom corner. Very well ballanced shot.
