Love the long exposure on this beautiful image Harold and how it amplifies the beauty of the cloud cover while maintaining the clarity of the background. So well done and beautiful too.

Yves Langlois

Love the vastness of the perspective Harold. Foreground with the big boulder is perfect. That sky gives me a very strange feeling. Like it's too low. Like it's gona touch my head in the foreground. Great shot.

Harold Fleming

I agree with you on the strange feeling you get with the sky, Yves! Part of it is the long exposure effect and the other part is the horizon placement. I think it,s a reason for breaking the rules of where horizons are usually placed. It seems to say it's not about the photo as a whole but about the individual parts , ie., the sky and the land in a sense seperate from each other.

Debra Plett

Very nice Harold, I like the dramatic feel to this image.

Harold Fleming

It's kind of a different look to a long exposure, Debra. The exposure causes drama in the clouds but the lack of movement in the water is a more normal look. They seem to work together though.

Jane LeBlanc

Nice, Harold. I like where you put the horizon.

Harold Fleming

I don't know if your familiar with the Rule of Thirds, Jane. Think of x's and o's but it is quite common to put the horizon either I/3 or two thirds up the composition. Other times some like to split the composition in half but in many things rules are meant to be broken and photography is one of them. Wildlife is much the same. A bird or animal is placed on one of the intersecting lines unless you want to break the rule.

Description
This is a long exposure of Skonun Pt. on Haida Gwaii at low tide. Lots of rocks and outcroppings here which harbour sea life and birds or just enjoy the view across the water of Dixon Entrance to the mountains of the Alaska Panhandle.
