Description
Late May sunrise at Bighorn Lookout near Turner Valley in Sheep River Provincial Park, Kananaskis, Alberta. Bighorn Lookout has the perfect view of the former Sheep River Wildlife Sanctuary that provides year-round habitat for bighorn sheep. Most of the park is located in the Rocky Mountain Natural Region, except for the eastern portion which extends into the foothills where open grassy slopes provide winter range for bighorn sheep, elk and deer that spend summers in high alpine areas to the west. The Bighorn Lookout and Sheep River Provincial Park are only accessible from May 14th to Dec 1st. During the winter months the highway is closed.
