Description
A friend and I watched a pair of these beautiful birds attend a nest for six weeks or so, making occasional visits to observe from a roadway what the status of the brood was. A friend had located them and we kept it quite to protect the integrity of the nesting site . This is a "species at risk" in Ontario and we didnt want to see the nesting site impacted by "hoards" of curious birders and photographers..This is one of the many frames I was able to capture that shows the intense red colour and beauty of these birds. Like many species in this "at risk" category, their decline is attributed to continuing development and encroachment into their habitat.
