Hello Boomer....you have a fine shot of a Merlin here Boomer......however this is a falcon not a hawk. They usually stake out a local bird feeder and .....bang...they have lunch! ....cheers....dave.

What a great opportunity to see nature in action, even when it involved a miscalculation by an adult raptor. It appears from the one image that the left eye is damaged. If it was damaged before this incident, it may have contributed to its miscalculation when pursuing its latest meal.

Stunned hawk sitting on my deck with his dinner clenched between his claws at the cottage. Stayed there for 2 days.
