Description
Tree Swallows are insect eaters, and most swallows have been long gone from southern Ontario. However a few of the hardier individuals will linger....a few are seen fairly regularly along some of the migration monitoring stations along the north shore of Lake Erie.
This trio was photographed at a local sewage lagoon, where insects are still emerging from the productive water. A piece of reinforcement bar (re-bar) emerging from a discarded chunk of concrete provided the perch here, allowing for a better sky background.
