Cool shot Yves. You will have to check this spot again to see if this has become a nesting area for the chick-a-Dee.

Thanks Debra. The hole is surprizingly deep and good for a nest but this dead tree is about 8 feet from a crowded trail. I'D say not a good place to raise kids. I will tell you how it ended.

Excellent detail on the chickadee, Yves. Definitely checking out the real estate I'd say.. it looks like just the right size too. What a cool shot.

It could have been either one, Yves. The photo tells a good story.

Thank you Jane. Time will tell how it will evolve.

Description
I was surprise to find a chickadee checking inside a freshly done woodpecker hole. Was it looking for some leftover or does it want to use it as a nest? (taken april 2025)
