Description
I was heading to a popular lake and birding spot in Ottawa, when I spotted two mallard ducks, a drake and a hen, partially hidden in a patch of long grass along the trail. Mallards are very common here but I will always stop to photograph them when an interesting opportunity presents itself. The drake was waddling around, repeatedly bobbing his head in a display of courtship towards the hen. At times, only the top of its head was visible as it would duck down into the grass and then suddenly reemerge.
