Description
Mid-october is the time when I'm sure to encounter Sandhill Cranes in this part of southern Quebec. This natural reserve is on their migration path, corn fields in the area were just harvested and there's enough food left for the birds when they arrive. During the day they are safely resting among the tall grass of the marsh then by the end of afternoon they take off to resume their flight south. This is when I can take these shots of their still slow, ascending flight.
