The "Big Gulp" :)

Description

St Vincent's Beach on the south east coast of Newfoundland in mid July this past season... ....Humpbacks and other whale species are here following the run of Capelin (a small fish that are also showing up about then too) . The time line varies slightly nowadays and isn't as consistent as it was before global warming but mid June ish is about when it happens. The Capelin arrive here in Newfoundland to spawn, the whales are here to feast on Capelin...they migrate from the south ( Caribbean included ) to feast on these little fish....you can see some escaping the closing jaws of this Humpback. We ventured the two hour drive from St Johns a couple times , the first was productive, the second visit the Capelin had finished their spawn and the whales had moved on. This photo was taken from shore!
