An epic shot of this Heron with the wings spread and the neck stretched out. Great action to detail and color in this amazing action shot. Awesome!

Debra Plett

Thanks very much Clifford for your kind and very much appreciated comment. I am looking forward to seeing more of this guy hopefully.

Super action shot with a nice story that explain it. Perfect sunlight on the scene. I love the beautyful pose of the wings and the legs running in action.. Great that you caught the bird out of balance. I am sure that without the open wings he would fall down. Hope you had fun doing the shot.

Debra Plett

Thank you very much Yves. He had just spun around and started to run I think he truly knew he had to retreat fast. His wings did balance him as he ran.

Heather Mellon

Perfect timing on this shot, Debra. The wing detail is beautiful and I like the graceful pose he kept even while retreating from an angry gander. Love the image and the story behind it.

Debra Plett

Thank you Heather. I had a few shots as he ran away but this one was my favorite because of the positioning of the wings as well.

Jane LeBlanc

Great photo! Love the action shot...and the story, Debra.

Debra Plett

Thanks Jane, I did enjoy the moment.

Description
This Great Blue Heron had been staring and approaching a Canada Goose Family for about 50 yards when all of a sudden the adult goose reared up chest out flapping its wings at the heron. That did the trick the heron retreated rather quickly in behind the spruce trees and started grooming himself. The heron appears to be all alone here so I am not sure if the mate has perished.
