What a great shot Yves. Congrats on this lifer for you, I'm sure it did make your day. It is awesome when so many elements of a photograph all come together to make an excellent composition like this one. You should be so proud

Thanks Clifford for your kind comments. Greatly apprecicted. I am quite proud of the work done for the last 4 years. But never forget that half of the job is under Mother Nature's will. So at the same time I develop my skill with the camera, I develop my relationship with her and I realy believe it pays off.

You captured him in a very nice pose Yves. I really like all the texture in the tree against the soft background. Wonderful that you were able to have the first encounter with this woodpecker.

Thank you very much Debra. Still learning to use the 800mm (400+2X) and it is getting better every time.

Really nice capture of your first sapsucker encounter Yves, I like the angle and framing on this shot. They're very attractive and colorful birds to have around as long as they don't get carried away drilling for sap.

Thank you for the comment Heather. I guess they are not the only beautyful living thing that comes with a bad habit. We are probably the greatest.

Getting a new 'lifer' is always a thrill. Great job with a new species, Yves.

Description
First encounter with that kind of woodpecker. The sun was right, the distance was perfect and (of course ) it made my day.
