Yes Clifford, timing is the key and never listen the little voice inside that say it is just a cormorant on a dock, and you have done plenty of those shots.
You caught this intriguing pose at just the right moment Yves. Aside from the angle on his beak the cormorant stands our beautifully here against the background ripples and the composition is perfect. Hope he made out okay.
Thanks Heather. To the naked eye I was to far to see the detail of the beak. I decided to take the picture for the exact reason you say. The guy had a very nice standing pose just on the corner of the dock. With the black and white riples I knew I have a shot there. It is only when I look through the 400mm lens that I discovered the broken beak.
That certainly does look like a beak to complain about. Nice timing on that shot Yves. I hope it is as you said.
Thanks Debra. Another bird than cormorant can't do that and I would say he is doomed. But knowing cormorant quite well I am quite confident it is a trick. That one may be the only one to do that trick.
