Great shot Debra. this guy looks quite content and maybe exhausted being this time of the year and all. The composition with the trees and grasses are spot on.
Thanks very much Clifford. I think you hit the nail on the head. I believe we are at the beginning of the rut here.
Very nice portrait of this handsome and healthy looking buck Debra, he has such an expressive face and looks ready for a rest. I really like the mood of this image and that he felt safe in your presence. Well done.
Thanks very much Heather. I think he was so worn out that he wasn’t thinking straight. I snapped a couple of pictures from a distance and kept moving, didn’t want to upset nature if he had a doe hidden in the bush. He is in the same area as the picture with the four doe resting under the tree.
Wow. Beautyful buck Degra. He sure look fat and healthy. The way he look at you let me think he is a friend of yours. I like very much the overall compo with the buck behind dead grass and the evergreen in the back. Would you say he is more than 3 years old.
Thanks very much Yves. I am not sure if I have crossed paths with this buck in previous years. I am still on the lookout for the one I call the gentle giant. This buck was very very tired and probably letting his guard down a bit. He could have been in a bit of a tussle his antlers had some broken points. I am not an expert but I think he may be three years old or so.
Thanks very much Jane. I think he may have been so exhausted that he let his guard down. Either that or he was staying closing to a doe in the bush.
