Description
I spent yesterday morning hiking around one location and I could hear the familiar drumming of the Pileated Woodpecker somewhere off in the distance, but couldn’t lay eyes on it. I quickly stopped at another area and, again, could hear constant hammering by another one, this time a little closer. Just as I was leaving, I noticed it had made its way out of its hiding spot in the trees and into the clearing. I rolled down the car window and was able to get a few quick shots before it flew off into the trees again. Timing is everything.
