Fantastic capture. I love photographing Osprey as much as Eagles. Osprey give you more though, they dont sit on a branch and not move for hours.

Debra Plett

Thank you Virginia Anne. Yes Osprey are wonderful birds to photograph and watch as they raise their family.

Thanks Jeff, I really enjoy the Osprey.

What a great capture Debra of this Osprey in action. The story is also great in explaining the hard work these birds do to survive. Very nicely photographed

Debra Plett

Thanks very much Clifford your comments are appreciated.

An awesome shot of the female at work and she stands out so beautifully against that clear blue sky! So well captured, Debra, and I can only imagine what a joy it was for you to see this pair back on their nest again :)

You are right Heather, I started watching for the Osprey mid April. I was a bit worried that they were hung up in one of those nasty Colorado low systems that have plagued Manitoba this spring. Thanks very much for your kind feedback. Hope you enjoy your spring and summer.

Wow! great capture Debra. The fast speed shooting is good and the lighting is dam perfect to see nice details of the bird. Apreciate that you caught a moment of day to day life of the bird. Hope you had fun to take the shot.

Hi Yves, I was excited to see the return of the Osprey. Shot was taken with the sun just behind me and the Osprey was flying into the sun. Glad to be taking pictures again. Thanks very much for your kind comments, always appreciated.

Description
After a long and cold winter with record snowfalls in Manitoba the migratory birds have started to return and settle into their summer nests and habitat. This female Osprey has taken a break from guarding the nest and swooped down to pick up a twig to reinforce the nest for the 2022 breeding season. The male Osprey was down low in the nest hopefully keeping an egg or two warn. The Osprey at this nest were about 10 days later than previous years to return. The water in the gravel pit below was still frozen at the time.
