Trumpeter Touching Down

Description
Once considered doomed from over hunting, Trumpeter Swans have made a remarkable comeback thanks to the efforts of dedicated conservationists. I find them in many of the wetlands that I frequent, some with the familiar yellow wing tags and many without. They are large birds with an unmistakable call. As evidenced in this photo, their landings aren’t nearly as delicate as smaller and lighter waterfowl. They really know how to make an entrance.
