I like the zoomed out image Harold very nice composition. To see the beautiful reflection and the habitat that the heron lives in now after the humans have left. Too bad more isn’t done to ensure the land is cleaned up and put back to its natural state.

Beautiful reflections Harold!

Harold Fleming

I thank you for your comment, Yaping. The water was calm.

Jane LeBlanc

Nice, Harold. Great to get the bird (nature) beside what's left of man made (unnatural).

Harold Fleming

Yes, Jane! An old steel beam some wood slowly rotting, an old rubber tire that should be removed, even the pier, all things that man has had a hand in.

Heather Mellon

Excellent composition, great tones and textures, well detailed here. The beautiful heron and its reflection add the perfect contrast to a really unique view. What a great shot Harold!

Harold Fleming

There are many textures here, Heather! I find the brown of the mud bottom and the wood piers give a very different look to this photo than many. It's not actually dark but has a dark feel to the photo.

Yves Langlois

The guy looks funny with its elongated neck. Water is just perfect to reflect some green color. The texture of the background is very interesting too. Very nice compo. Good that you included the old rotten peer on the right.

Harold Fleming

He does have a very lengthy neck, Yves. I really wanted to get more of the water because of the nice reflections but I couldn't coax the heron in.

Description
This zoomed out view of the Great Blue Heron shows the bird as small in the surroundings of what used to be where boats moved down to the water at a boat building business.
