Clifford Dupuis

What a great shot Debra, nice to see these in action flights that show the intensity as seen in his eye

Debra Plett

Thanks Clifford, yes she was definitely a little excited about what was going on in the nest.

Heather Mellon

A great flight shot, Debra. I'm really impressed at how she managed to snatch the fish by the fin and circle around the nest without losing it. A really interesting photo and story.

Debra Plett

Thank you Heather. I don’t think they drop to many fish. From what I have read they will release a fish if another bird is too much of a threat. I guess those talons are the ultimate fish hook.

Jeff

great timing on that one nieces shot

Debra Plett

Thanks Jeff.

Super shot at the osprey Debra. You capture a very good pose of the bird. I may mistake but looking at that I would say she was hovering on that shot. The tail wide open (with nice lighting) and a little dow like that, and the tip of the wing waving. A bit sad for the fish,. My heart just can't get through that law of eat or be eaten. Hope it will be different in my next life.

Debra Plett

You are correct Yves, for a moment she hovered before dropping back into the nest. It is sad that something has to die for another to survive. Nothing goes to waste with the Osprey though they eat the whole fish. Thanks for following and commenting Yves.

Jane LeBlanc

Great shot, Debra, and good story.

Debra Plett

Thanks Jane, I do enjoy following their journey while they are in Manitoba.

Description
A couple of minutes after the male had delivered food to the nest the female decided she needed to reorganize things before she started to feed the chicks. For a brief moment she backed out of the nest circled once and came back in with the half eaten fish on the other side of the nest. Maybe that means things are getting a litttle crowded or that the chicks are starting to grab at the food before she is ready to feed them. There was a little bit of noise but then things calmed down.
