Thank you Debra. They certainly are and they amaze me sometimes at their resilience. Today there was a group of about eight of them zooming across my yard and they were quite a sight to see. Made my day :)

Thank you Yves. They bring a special kind of beauty to the garden and the lilacs have never looked better than they do this year. This is what makes my summers so enjoyable.
A very nice photo, Heather! You can feel sorrow for the butterfly and yet know that it's fine and you can feel pleasure in seeing it in a beautiful setting. You've told and captured a nice story here.
Thank you Harold.. they're actually pretty tough little creatures judging by the state I've seen some of them in. I only wish they lived longer, once the lilacs are finished blooming they're gone for another year again.
