I miss seeing the rufous hummers at our feeder.. haven't seen one yet this year and that seems odd. This is a beautiful and excellent flight shot Harold.
Thank you,Heather! I am still waiting for a male to appear. It may be a sign of the times and is worrisome if there are many reports of no nesting.
Fantastic focusing Harold, I like how the background colours mirror the colours of the hummingbird.
It so often happens, Debra; unplanned as this was, that the background mimics bird and even animal colours. I'm starting to understand that nature has designed life this way for them.
Getting the camera to focus when they hover is a trick, Jane. You don't get much time.
Excellent Harold - I have never been knowingly this close to a hummingbird. Great capture and at 1/2500 sec, the wings are still blurry.
I'm about eight feet away here, Bernie, sitting in a chair. Once they get used to you being there, they come and go quite freely. I've had them hover about two feet from me but I haven't had one land on me yet. I may have to sit there with my finger out.
