Description
I got this close up shot of the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird as it hovered in front of a feeder. I was using a 600mm lens and I was close to the minimum focus distance at 3m away. At this distance I had to predict where it was likely to be and wait for it fly into the range of my single auto-focus point. Using this technique I was able to get the hummingbird to fill roughly 80% of the frame height in the original. This is a crop of about 50%.
