My philosophy towards photography is that the camera & lens are merely tools for visually expressing what I see in my mind’s eye & the spirit I feel in my heart – and embracing this artistic vision is the synergy of truth, beauty & love. I started capturing photos at a very young age. My father was a gifted photographer & since he was in the photo-finishing business, I had access to cameras & film throughout my formative years. Being an engineer, architect & landscape architect, I have a passion for, & an intuitive sense of geometry & the use of natural light, evoking feelings of awe and beauty in portraying both natural & cultural environments. I am passionate about the truth & beauty in everything that surrounds us, particularly patterns found in nature, and therefore I am deeply inspired to express this passion through photography. I used to say that I capture an image, not take an image, but after working with my friend & mentor, Dave Brosha, I have since learned that at the same time, I also create an image. Being inspired by an initial idea or vision of the image, I choose when to release the shutter and capture the gift of the momentary exposure. It is this process of striving to share the magic of light and the inherent beauty of that spiritual moment with others that drives my personal photographic journey.
