Am Black Duck comes in for a landing

by Allen_Woodliffe from Chatham CA on 06 Feb 2019

American Black Ducks are currently more common in winter in southwestern Ontario than in the summer. They used to be a more common breeding species than Mallard, but that was before so much of the southern Ontario landscape changed due to settlement, resulting in more favourable habitat for Mallards.
