Eulithis xylina – (no common name)

This pretty Geometrid ranges west of the Rockies from Alaska to California, and eastward into Alberta and Sakatchewan. Adult wingspans measure somewhere in the neighbourhood of 40mm. Caterpillars feed on a wide variety of shrubs and deciduous trees.

Thanks hmellon.
The colour and texture of the bark was a real accident. A few inches one way or another would have made for either pixie-dust green, or old cedar grey.
