Canadian Geographic Photo Club - Carmanah

by Nick Taffs from Airdrie CA on 14 Sep 2017

I have wanted to visit Carmanah Walbran Provincial Park for several years now. This past July I packed the car and loaded my two year old daughter and we left Calgary for five days on the island. I have made several attempts in the past but turned back on the rough roads with my car. This time I went for it and made it in. The park was surreal. During the rough drive in, I questioned if I made a mistake. By the time I actually got into he groves on the trail, all my apprehensions went away. I could hear a barred owl hooting as we walked through the ancient forest. It was well worth the tire blow out I got just after leaving the park. Thank god for having a plug kit with me.
