Not A Good Idea

"Not A Good Idea" by Debbie Oppermann. It was a Happy Dance day! My very first sighting of the amazing Long Eared Owl, Asio Otus, and in my backyard! Could it get any better? This medium sized raptor roosted all day on the branch of the Spruce tree in Guelph Ontario Canada. It was always aware of what was around it, those yellow eyes would stare intently at whatever disturbed or alarmed it but it did manage to sleep. Three Crows spotted the Owl and zoomed in for a closer look while making a ton of noise as they usually do and this was not a good idea. This Crow visit alarmed the Owl and it stood fully upright making itself as thin as possible and with the ear tufts fully erect and it stared them down. The Crows didn't stay very long and never got too close to it. I wouldn't either with the look it was giving the intruders!
