Bear encounter

Description
I was having an early morning hike on a game trail that meandered through the forest at one point the trail ended at a sandy beach but I found it again. I continued along the trail until I was on a hill overlooking the lake, I sat in the moss listening to loons, ducks and squawking kingfishers. When I was ready to leave I decided to return to my vehicle on a different trail that I knew probably led to a gravel road and I was correct as I eventually saw the road ahead of me. I was looking forward to walking back on the road because it would be easier than walking on the game trail. As I stepped out of the forest I looked up and down the road, to my surprise I saw a beautiful bear walking in the middle of the road coming towards me. Needless to say I did not walk out on the road as the bear continued towards me. I thought well I should take a few photos while the bear and I are deciding what to do next, so a snapped a few photos and took a video and than realized the bear was not changing its mind so I needed to chose what to do! Part of me wanted to stay where I was to watch the bear walk past me but I knew that was probably not wise due to our proximity to each other so I turned around walking back into the forest, down the game trail that I had just walked on and ended up back at my vehicle. This was how I handled this bear encounter, every situation is unique and could require a different course of action. I always try to be as respectful as possible around all the wildlife as I’m a visitor in their area. (Telephoto lens used, photo cropped for Instagram)
