I love wood ducks and think they are one of the most stunning waterfowl in Canada. Even the females who are significantly less colourful and flashy than their male counterparts are lovely, with their speckled breasts and white rimmed eyes. I took this picture of a female wood duck standing on the railing of a boardwalk at one of my favourite wetland areas in Ottawa. It was a beautiful autumn day and the sun was coming through the trees which resulted in the most perfect bokeh background.
