It has to be very rewarding to get a shot like this one. I love the pov and the vibrant colours and detail make for a very nice capture. I would love the opportunity to photograph one of these beauties but they're not very common in our region. Well done Yves.

Thank you Heather. You must have some beautyful butterfly I don't have around here. Try this at home, you'll love it.

Beautiful, Yves. Part of the problem is finding Monarchs to photograph in the first place. I grow milkweed in my yard for that purpose.

Yves Langlois

Thank you Jane. They are common here in the season. But of course I dream of shooting those beautyful ones I don't have around here. One day, may be, there will be a camera to photography a dream.

Very artistic capture Yves. Experimenting with perspective can be a challenge with anything that can move out of your frame quickly. Nicely captured.

Thank you so much Debra. Your comments are well appreciated. From the last 2 years experiencing I developped my hability at close range. Set at 400mm, 6 feet from the subject the DOF is so tiny that the 7.1 aperture was a minimum. I was in full sun but still I was ISO 400 to get the .0008sec speed.

Description
It took many trials of slowly approach and laying down myself flat on the ground to finaly achieve the ground level perspective I wanted.
