Heather Mellon

Thank you Jeff. They were delightful subjects to work with too :)

I love those moments when you actually get to take in wildlife communicating and protecting one another. This is a very pretty composition of the group of swans. I like the eye contact and it really seems to say that he/she is protecting the group. The reeds add some nice texture and colour…super capture Heather

Thank you Debra. It really is quite the experience to hear their very unique and beautiful 'swan talk' as I like to call it. I spotted several groups of them on the lakes when passing by today and hopefully will be able to get some more photos this coming week. Can't wait to get out there again :)

Clifford Dupuis

Well done Heather. Your timing was impeccable to capture this amazing action in such great detail, well done

Heather Mellon

Thank you Clifford. This was a longer shot and finally I was able to fit all but one of the cygnets into the frame. It turned out better than I expected and has become one of my favorite captures of the swans.

Yves Langlois

Beautyfuly composed and frame. All in a pack but each one having a particular pose of its head. The one at the right is giving you a very sweet eye contact. Great job.

Heather Mellon

Thank you Yves. They were really going after the plants under the water and it was quite the sight to see. One thing I've found with swans is that there is always one of them keeping an eye on things. I was at a nearby lake today where the swans are starting to gather again. It was so good to see them again and listen to them communicate with one another.. unforgettable.

Description
A family of cygnets was feeding in the shallows of Crystal Lake when I arrived, just in time to get some close-up shots of the action. Very exciting photo op..
