The angle really shows off both of the swans nicely. I can see the differences you are talking about Heather. Nice to see two together feeding but also keeping track of their surroundings. Very nice opportunity for you, captured beautifully.

Thank you Debra. I wish I could have gotten more photos of them all together but didn't bring a lens change. They all swim close together even while feeding it seems. And all the times I've seen cygnets on the water they seldom stray far from one another. I was hoping the adults would appear but didn't see any sign of them.

Very nice pose of the pair expressing their tendency to stay close one to the other. Not much stricking colors (a chalenge for the photographer) but their soft tone color fit well the shallow water, giving a calm mood effect.

Heather Mellon

Thank you Yves. I was just so happy to get these photos that colours and bokeh didn't come to mind, for a change. Just watching them had a calming effect too, even in the excitement of the moments spent watching them. You forget about everything else..

Jeff

good one of them swans we do not have them here you gave some good detailing

Heather Mellon

Thank you Jeff. I had a couple shots that were a bit sharper but this one gave the best overall view of them together. It won't be long before the fall migration starts and hopefully I'll get some more photo ops.

Description
A pair of cygnets feed together in the shallows of Crystal Lake. From a distance they look much alike but up close you see how individual looking they really are. And although they were too busy feeding to pay much attention to us I notice from the photos that some of them kept a watchful eye on the activity at the dock. In typical swan fashion.
