Description
This Barred Owlet had made the arduous task of climbing up to the top of the dead tree that the nest cavity was in, it did so by using a combination of flapping its wings while using its beak and talons to help him along. Once it reached the top it looked around for a while trying to figure out its next move, it wasn't long before Mom flew in and gave lots of snuggles and preening seemingly a reward from a very proud parent. She flew off and returned a short time later with another reward of a small rodent for the Owlet to eat. I have been photographing the Barred Owl mom and dad for 5+ years now. This year they had 4 Owlets and all 4 successfully fledged and are thriving.
