Hi Debra: I am back after a long break due to Covid. No Grizzlies in my yard !!! I do have loons in my lake and I long to get close enough to photograph them. You did a masterful job capturing the markings and that delightful red eye. All the best... Jenny

Debra Plett

Hi Jenny, thanks very much for your feedback. I am headed back to Dogtooth Lake a couple more times this summer so I am hoping that the loons are still just as friendly.

A stunning close-up of this gorgeous Loon, Debra. You captured the detail of her markings and the deep red colour of her eyes perfectly here against the ripples. Very well done! I wish the Loons on my favorite hill top lake were as at ease with humans as this one was with your presence. Sorry to learn of the damage that the flooding has caused in your region too.

Debra Plett

Thanks very much for your comments Heather, always appreciated. The lake seems to be more active with bird life this year. Maybe the higher waters is also bringing the minnows and fish in closer for the birds. The shoreline and dock were damaged but my brother and husband have rebuilt the dock already. Thanks Heather I hope everything is okay in your area.

Great shot Debra. You had an opportunity to capture it at very close range and you nailed it perfectly. With the zoom option, even the black head shows beautyfull color tones and details. This is experience. Very well done.

I always keep my camera handy while outside working at the lake. I was quite fortunate that the loon was content looking for fish. I always appreciate your comments Yves Thanks very much.

Description
While accessing all the damage to the shoreline that the high spring waters caused this gorgeous loon swam to within 10 feet of me. She was mor intent on catching a minnow and not worried about my presence at all. The loons seem to be a lot more at ease with humans than the merganer ducks do.
