Lovely shot Heather. He is sitting pretty perfect in the water to show off every part of him. The water rings hold ones eye to the seagull. Very very nice.

Thank you so much Debra. He was a great poser and the water conditions were perfect for the shot I was hoping for. Haven't been out with my camera very much this spring but hope to get out more often this summer again :)

love this shot Heather. These guys are always up for a photo and in this case you were lucky to have such a co-operative one to give you this eye shot. The reflection ruffled in the water is the crowning touch.

Thank you so much Clifford. They're friendly and curious aren't they, which makes them easy to photograph and one of my favorite subjects.

Agree with you Heather, the guy is a star looking bird and you've put it under the spotlight. Appreciate the dark blue surrounding and the curved line splitting the water texture from calm to waves at the head level. With the zooming option I discovers the very special eye. Well done.

Thank you so much Yves. It's the kind of shot I love to get when the waters are smooth and the light is right together with a good subject of course. And since you noticed the eye, that white plumage around the eye and ring at the tip of the bill shows that this was an adult bird in breeding plumage.

Description
The Franklin's Gulls are very common on the Prairies and I've always thought they were particularly photogenic birds. This fellow kept watching me as I clicked away on the dock of Crystal Lake and gave me a great pose in the process.
